Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Marcel van Loo, the new chairman of the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF), to the golf museum.
Of course with Limburg pie and a tour of the Dutch Golf Museum itself, where Marcel showed a lot of interest in the historical golf objects. With special attention, of course, to the three Dutch Open trophies, the Dutch Ladies Open trophy, and the shield board of the Netherlands Golf Committee (predecessor of the NGF) with winning golf clubs from 1928 through 1981.
But it was also educational for us as board members to hear from Marcel what the key priorities of the NGF are:
1) Toegankelijkheid – golf is voor iedereen, met speciale aandacht voor vrouwengolf en golfers met een beperking;
2) Duurzaamheid – beter uitleggen wat de maatschappelijke relevantie van golf is en samenwerken met organisaties als Natuurmonumenten;
3) Topgolf – o.a. opzetten regionale talent-academies;
4) Innovatie / Off course golf – interactieve driving ranges en indoorgolf.
Marcel, thank you for coming to the golf museum. We found it a positive and inspiring visit!
