1898 Organization Amateur Championships

There weren’t that many golfers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. But among those few golfers, there were many double names.

Aalbrecht aren’t Del Court van Krimpen (1856-1924) was known as the great promoter of golf in the Netherlands. He had a private job at Callantsoog, had runways built in Arnhem and Wijk aan Zee, designed those of the Kennemer and advised in Noordwijk. He was also chairman of the Rosendaelsche Golf Club.

On his initiative, in 1898 the joint organization of the amateur championship or ‘champion’ golf for men began. A competition to which a women’s cup was added in 1906.
