Arendsen de Wolff trophy (1991 – 2018)

This silver bowl was an exchange trophy of the national mixed competition for senior members of A and B clubs with a high handicap and was awarded to the winners of the national final from 1991 to 2018.

The idea for this competition was born in 1989 on the initiative of the NGF. Every year, the clubs organized a preliminary round and the best couples competed for the trophy in a final organized by the NGF. The match form was mixed greensome stableford.

As a thank you for the much work that the Arendsen de Wolff couple has done for the NGF for more than 20 years, this scale was named after them when this mixed competition was established.

Mr. W.G.K Arendsen de Wolff has been chairman of the Seniors Committee of the NGF and has made a major contribution to the organization of the National Seniors Golf Week at the Rosendaelsche Golfclub. Together with Mr. F. Horn, he was responsible for the translation of the Rules of Golf into Dutch.

Winnie Goswin Karel Arendsen de Wolff had already died on 20 November 1987, but his wife Else Arendsen de Wolff-Exalto has always been awarding the prize ceremony in recent years.

When the preliminary round that was to be played on 24 May 2019 was not (yet) known that the NGF had ended the competition for this trophy after almost 30 years, arguing that there are now sufficient opportunities for seniors to participate in competitions. But it also turned out that the now 100-year-old Else Arendsen de Wolf-Exalto was able to present the trophy for the last time in 2018!

After her death on February 10, 2019, this match will no longer be played and the Dutch Golf Federation has donated the Arendsen de Wolff scale to the Dutch Golf Museum, where this grand exchange trophy can now be admired.
